Side OneLure of the Wilderness - Another fine composition from the pen of my friend and multi-talented entertainer, Rusty Richards. The Flowers -The Sunset -The Trees - A beautiful and descriptive song previously recorded by Jim Reeves.Stillwater Pool - This beauty was written by the great Bob Nolan for the Charles Starrett Film, "North of the Yukon'-Circa 1939. Will There be Sagebrush in Heaven - A very popular and much recorded tune written by Pearl Walla. My Cathedral - This song tells perfectly how I feel about the Sierra Nevadas and the high country I love. Arizona Sunset - A composition destined to become a classic. A portrait of Arizona in words and music well written by my friend 'Doc Denning' From the Rim of the Canyon - A great song recorded by Gene Autry and also sung by Ken Curtis and the Sons of the Pioneers. The Wonder of it All - Wonderful words by Bob Nolan that were found after his death and given to me to write a musical score for. I'm so very honored to have my name next to Bob's as a co-writer. My thanks to Bobbie Nolan and Ken Griffis. |
Side TwoToo High - Too Wide -Too Low - Another toe tapper similar to Cowboy Campmeetin' written by the legendary song writer Tim Spencer.High Country - I thought this one fit in well with the title of the album. I never cease to wonder at the beauty of the high country. How Great Thou Art - Composed by S. Hine, this one speaks to the creator and creation of the magnificent west. The Red Hills of Utah - A tribute to Utah by Marty Robbins, a writer and performer whose accomplishments in western music stand alone. Old Folks - A beautifully written song that will tug on your heart strings-it does mine. The Wondrous Word - Written by a dear friend, the late Ken Carson who was not only a kind and gentle man but a great singer and song writer. The Call of the Faraway Hills - You may remember this melody from the classic western film, "Shane". I heard Ken Curtis sing these lyrics by Young and David and just had to take a crack at it. Amazing Qrace - On this timeless gem, the acappella treatment seems to maintain the purity of the message in the lyrics. |

To Bob Wagoner "Man of the West" During my Forty-four year tenure as one of the "Sons of the Pioneers," its been a lifelong enjoyment performing with many talented and legendary greats, the likes of Roy Rogers, to our late great poet and famous Western composer of Cool Water and Tumbling Tumbleweeds, Bob Nolan. I mention my part in this Western tradition only as a prelude and tribute to a man who personifies everything Western, From his wonderful paintings of the Western way of life to his own compositions, 'High Country' being one of my all time favorites. BOB WAGONER has the unique vocal range of four octaves bass thru tenor. He sings all the vocal parts and plays all his own musical accompaniment. Since 1967 Bob has contributed to the well known western singing group the "Reinsmen.' It is evident that his good friend Bob Nolan had him in mind when he wrote his great song "The West is in My Soul " BOB WAGONER is truly an inspiring "Man of the West " I am proud to call Bob my friend. Dale Warren
